CEDEX’s Diamonds exchange brings together commodity buyers and sellers from around the globe. Now, diamonds can finally traded as a financial asset class, securely and transparently.
Selling and buying diamonds

Open Account
Open an account on CEDEX.com, register as an investor and complete the KYC/AML processes in order to upload your diamond

Verification
Send your diamond to a GIA lab for verification and certificate update

Custodian
Once the diamond is verified and approved, it is sent to a secured custodian for safekeeping

List on CEDEX Exchange
Your diamond is uploaded to the exchange and you set your asking price

DDC - Digital Diamond Certificate
A DDC is created, representing a diamond’s ownership. It includes owner ID, status, gem composite score, gem subcategory, media, designated custodian information, and arrival time at the custodian’s location

Match on Order Book
Once there is a price match for your diamond, the settlement process begins

Payment
CEDEX coins equivalent to the diamond sale will be deposited to your wallet in exchange for the diamond/DDC

Ownership
The Diamond Digital Certificate is transferred to the buyer and he becomes the diamond’s legal owner

Resell
The diamond is now ready to be resold on the CEDEX exchange

You can bid on a single or multiple diamonds. Your order in the category can be based on Market/ Price or DEX estimate

Match on Order Book
Once a price match is obtained, the settlement process begins. The Diamond Digital Certificate is created and visible on the blockchain

Settlement Process
Your diamond is now allocated from diamond supplier, transferred to GIA for re-verification and from there to custodian. The process may take up to 21 business days to complete (during the first month of operations, process may take up to 40 business days).

Payment
Once the diamond reaches the secured custodian, payment is sent to the seller

Ownership
The Diamond Digital Certificate is transferred to the buyer and you become its legal owner

Resell
You can now modify price and re-sell over the exchange

Physical Delivery

Trading Diamonds on CEDEX

You can bid on single or multiple diamonds. A diamond’s order within its category can be based on Market /Price or DEX. The DEX algorithm evaluates each diamonds ask price vs. its EMP (Estimated Market Price) based on its gemological characteristics and presents sellers with a DEX score and estimated market price. Only the top 50 rated diamonds will appear in the Order Book (for bidding). Diamonds rated below the top 50 in the Order Book can only be bought at the asking price.

Diamond Categories

CEDEX enables traders to invest in one or more of four diamond categories: clean, round diamonds of 70 points, 1 carat, 1.5 carats and 2 carats in size. All categories contain diamonds in the following ranges: Color D,E,F,G,H Clarity FL,IF, VVS1,VVS2 Diamonds will range in value from approximately 2,000 USD to 30,000 USD, depending on the category it falls into. (Additional diamond categories will be added in the future)

    • Diamond suppliers must have legal entity authorized to trade in diamonds
    • Diamond investors and private diamond suppliers MUST pass strict compliance processes, including AML (Anti Money Laundering) screening and an enhanced KYC process
  • CEDEX takes every necessary precaution to keep its clients’ personal information and funds safe and secure
Credibility
  • All diamonds uploaded to CEDEX are GIA-certified, which means they are held to the highest of diamond industry verification standards
  • When a match is made, a DDC is created on the Blockchain, in the form of a smart contract. The DDC contains all information relevant to the diamond: the diamond owner ID, verification status, full diamond history, gem composite score, gemological subcategory and custodian data (name, location, arrival time, ID of diamond at the custodian)

CEDEX Pricing Fees
CEDEX will charge the following fees for the use of its platform by diamond suppliers, buyers and sellers:
Listing Fees
Diamond-verification, shipping (to the custodian) and Order Book uploading fees, charged upon the actual sale
6% of the diamond’s worth
Trading Fees
To be charged upon transaction consummation
0.8% of the transaction
Delisting Fees
Fees pertaining to custodian withdrawals and shipment to the diamond holder
9% of the transaction
Withdrawal Fees
Fees for making transaction-related withdrawals of funds or CEDEX coin (in the beginning)

Taxation
All diamonds listed on the CEDEX exchange are stored with secured custodians in Hong Kong (a bounded area) and Geneva, Switzerland (a known tax-free zone). If an investor requests that the diamond be taken from the custodian and delivered to his location, they might be subject to taxation and diamond regulations, in accordance with their country's taxation/possession policy. It is the investor’s sole responsibility to comply with and pay any taxes or fees
